Graphite Furnace Insulation board generally comes in two distinct forms
- Carbon bonded carbon fibre; common trade names include Russcarb, Calcarb and Fibreform.
- Rigidised graphite felt.
Online Furnace' carbon bonded carbon fibre is based on high purity rayon fibres which have been milled, carbonised, mixed with proprietary resins and vacuum formed into boards. The boards then go through a process polymerisation and drying. They are then carbonised followed by a final heat treatment to between 1800ºC and 2700ºC depending the process application. Graphite Furnace Insulation board has excellent machining properties. Tight process control ensures a homogeneous board with excellent thermal properties resulting in improved hot zone temperature uniformity. Thermal properties may be further enhanced by the application of a graphite foil coating.
Online Furnace' rigid felt comprises layers of graphitised rayon felt which have been impregnated and bonded together. They are then heat treated to 2000ºC. Rigid felt can be supplied with either graphite foil or CFC bonded to the board. CFC clad board offers unsurpassed board lifetime, through its unequalled resistance to gas erosion in today's high pressure gas quench furnaces.
